Asia's tallest ancient wooden pagoda was burned down.
This afternoon (December 10th), the Ling Gong Pagoda in Jiulong, Mianzhu, Sichuan, China, was destroyed by fire.

According to the People's Daily, the incident occurred at around 1 PM. The fire originated in the main temple and then spread to the tower.

Ling Palace is the tallest all-wooden tower in Asia, built during the Ming Dynasty over 300 years ago. The tower has 16 floors and a unique design.

The tower was severely damaged in the historic earthquake eight years ago and is still undergoing repairs. The fire on the afternoon of December 10th destroyed this ancient tower.
