(Baonghean.vn) - After 28 years of use, Dien Minh Primary School (Dien Chau) has been seriously damaged and degraded, leading to a lack of classrooms. The school has had to let students study at the commune committee warehouse.

Dien Minh Primary School has three buildings, one of which has a flat roof with 6 classrooms built since 1986. After a long period of use, this building has now shown serious deterioration, endangering the lives of teachers and students.

To ensure safety, the three severely degraded classrooms were closed and fenced off, while the remaining three were still open to students. According to the school leader, "even though we know it is dangerous for teachers and students, due to the lack of classrooms, the school has no other choice."

After making a report to the People's Committee of Dien Minh commune about the current situation of the school, the school moved 2 classes to the warehouse rooms of the People's Committee of the commune for temporary study, waiting for the construction of a new building.

The school must fence and post danger signs.

According to observations, the entire row of houses has seriously degraded, the flat roof is cracked in many places, many pieces of plaster have fallen down, revealing rusty iron bars. The back wall is also cracked in many places, just a light knock on the wall will cause large pieces of plaster to peel off. The walls and ceilings are covered with cracks. Currently, 3 classrooms have been locked, the school has also temporarily barricaded around the three rooms to prevent students from coming here to play, which could be dangerous.

Faced with this situation, in 2014, the inspection team of Dien Minh Commune People's Committee directly inspected the current status of classrooms at Dien Minh Primary School to assess the situation. On October 24, 2014, Dien Minh Commune People's Committee issued Decision No. 53, suspending teaching and learning in 3 classrooms in the east block, moving classes to the warehouse of the Commune People's Committee because of deterioration and unusability. However, this was only a temporary measure.

Mr. Hoang Trong Phuc, Chairman of Dien Minh Commune People's Committee, said: "A few years ago, the school received a decision approving the construction of a new school under the program of solidifying classrooms, but due to the implementation of Resolution 11 of the Government, it was temporarily suspended. The desire of the locality, the school as well as parents and students is to soon have funds to build a new school to ensure the quality of teaching and learning.

Through discussion, Mr. Le Manh Hien, Head of Finance - Accounting Department (Dien Chau district) said: “After receiving the application from Dien Minh Primary School, the Finance Department advised the district on this issue. In early 2016, the district allocated 1 billion VND for the commune. Currently, the consulting unit has conducted a survey of the school construction site. In fact, Dien Minh Primary School currently needs 10 classrooms, but will initially build 6 classrooms to replace the degraded and damaged classrooms. Construction is expected to start in July 2016, and by early 2017 there will be new classrooms.”

And while waiting to build new classrooms, this rainy and stormy season, teachers and students in Dien Minh are still worried...
