(Baonghean)The Ta Soi Bridge, constructed under the investment of the Department of Transport and by Thuan An Construction and Trading Development Joint Stock Company, has somewhat ensured smooth traffic flow on National Highway 48, the section passing through Ta Soi village, Chau Hanh commune, Quy Chau district. However, during the construction process, the contractor affected some agricultural land and the lives of local people, especially during the rainy season...

Mr. Lo Van Nam's family is one of nine households severely affected whenever it rains. Mr. Nam said that in the past, this village also frequently experienced flooding during the rainy season. But after the rain, life in the village returned to normal because the road surface was low and the water drained quickly. Now, however, even a light rain causes his family and other households along Highway 48 in this village to be submerged.

Due to the small drainage system, with pipes only about 20cm in diameter, the elevated road surface, and the village's location nestled at the foot of the mountain and road, the area has become a heavily polluted basin. Mr. Nam and others have repeatedly petitioned the authorities for assistance in relocating to another place, but to date, there has been no response. His family and eight other households in the village are still living with flooding during the rainy season. Mr. Nam also added that there are two separate branches of Chau Hanh 2 kindergarten and primary school here, with over 120 students from Ta Soi and Khe Han villages attending. During the rainy season, the school is often flooded, forcing both teachers and students to stay home. Teachers have to take turns bringing school books and equipment home to avoid the floods.

Not only are many households in the area flooded, but they are also gradually losing their agricultural land. The entire village has over 10 hectares of agricultural land, but for more than two years, due to the construction of the Ta Soi bridge, Thuan An Construction and Trade Development Joint Stock Company has buried over 3 hectares of agricultural land belonging to the people, including the family of Mr. Lo Van Phuong. Mr. Phuong said that his family has 11 acres of rice paddies, yielding about 1.2 tons of rice per year, and they mainly rely on agriculture for their livelihood. But for the past two years, due to the construction of the Ta Soi bridge, his family has lost over 4 acres, and their harvest is only 8 quintals of rice per year, putting their lives at risk of falling back into poverty.

Ta Soi village, Chau Hanh commune, Quy Chau district, has 140 households and 683 inhabitants, with over 70% living in poverty. The people's livelihoods are primarily based on agriculture. The residents here need attention from all levels of government, especially those households severely affected by floods, to provide support and relocation away from flood-prone areas.
