Ukraine's defeat shows NATO's vulnerability to adversaries

(Baonghean.vn) - Newsweek (USA) wrote that the failure of Ukraine's counterattack showed the vulnerability of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, which had never before faced an opponent of equal strength and high-tech weapons.

An analysis in Newsweek assessed that no NATO army has ever fought a war comparable to what has taken place in Ukraine over the past 18 months. The alliance's strategy has never been tested in a real-life military conflict with a powerful opponent.

Expert Paul Van Hooft pointed out that in the 1990-1991 Persian Gulf campaign and the war in Iraq, the US quickly established air superiority, and that was the key to their victory.

According to Newsweek, NATO has always relied on this strategy, and has always been confident that the alliance's air superiority has been virtually undivided in every conflict at hot spots in recent years.
