Defeated by Cambodia, U18 Vietnam was eliminated from the group stage of the Southeast Asian tournament.
(Baonghean.vn) - Losing points and goal difference to their semi-final opponents, coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team had no choice but to win and wait for Malaysia or Australia to stumble. However, the final result of the match was completely contrary to expectations.
With nothing to lose and facing a weaker opponent, U18 Vietnam attacked from the very first minutes of the match. However, Cambodia also actively surrounded the home team's players. In the 10th minute, Cong Den skillfully handled the ball and got past the opponent's defense, but the number 10 striker's shot unfortunately went just outside the goal post.
In the remaining minutes of the first half, U18 Vietnam still dominated the ball control time but could not find a way to the U18 Cambodia goal. In the 38th minute, it seemed like the goal had come to the red team after shaking the opponent's net, but Xuan Tao was denied the goal by the referee because he let the ball touch his hand earlier. The first half ended with a 0-0 draw.

In the remaining minutes of the match, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan's students proactively pushed up their formation, but simple attacks could not penetrate the defense of the neighboring team.
