Eight businesses were selected by Mong Cai City, Quang Ninh province, to participate in a pilot program to welcome Chinese tourists using travel permits from December 15, 2015, to December 31, 2016.

Eight travel agencies are authorized to receive Chinese tourists visiting Mong Cai city with travel permits, including: Mong Cai Tourism and Service Joint Stock Company, Hai Lam Sa Limited Company, Vinh Thinh Tourism and Service Joint Stock Company, Phuc Son Trade and Tourism One-Member Limited Company, Duyen Hai Quang Ninh One-Member Limited Company, Quang Ninh Marine Supply Joint Stock Company, Kim Lien International Travel Joint Stock Company, and Mekong Limited Company.

For many years, Dongxing City (China) has been issuing travel permits to its citizens for day trips through the border crossing. Each day, an estimated 300-400 tourists use these permits to visit Mong Cai City.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Finance has also agreed to a pilot program for self-driving tourist vehicles operating bilaterally between Mong Cai City and Dongxing City via the Mong Cai International Border Gate.
