In gratitude 2025: Honoring the unsung heroes of education.
The "Expressing Gratitude 2025" program portrays the emotional journey of dedicated educators, from a teacher crossing a stream to bring food to her students to a young scientist returning to the country to contribute to its cause.
On the evening of November 16th, the "Expressing Gratitude" program for 2025 was broadcast live. This annual event, organized by Vietnam Television in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training, commemorates the 43rd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2025). With the theme "Lighting Up the Future," the program honored the silent contributions of teachers across the country.
The event was attended by Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, representatives from central ministries, departments and agencies, and outstanding educators from across the country.
A message from the head of education.
Speaking at the event, Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasized the role of teachers in igniting the flame of knowledge, faith, and aspirations in generations of students. He shared: "Education is the profession of sowing seeds and nurturing the future, silently but persistently, quietly yet brilliantly... Teachers transform knowledge into light so that learners can illuminate their own path to maturity and build their own future."
The Minister also addressed the teaching staff, urging them to continuously strive to be worthy of society's trust and affection, always serving as shining examples of character, a spirit of learning, and fairness for students to emulate.
Journeys to spread literacy in the highlands.
The program brought viewers touching stories about the sacrifices of teachers in disadvantaged areas. One of the most striking images was that of the teachers at Thac Lam Kindergarten in Quang Lam commune, Cao Bang province, carrying packages of food, crossing streams, and trekking through forests to bring meals with meat to their students.
The story of teacher Nong Le Luyen is a prime example. Every day, she begins her journey at 5 a.m., traversing 16 kilometers of treacherous mountain passes with nearly 20 kilograms of food and books to reach Ho Nhi school. Her simplicity and love for children have touched the hearts of many viewers.
In addition, there is the story of teacher Pham Thi Hong in Dak Lak, who tirelessly traveled dozens of kilometers to persuade each family to keep their children engaged in education. Thanks to her perseverance, many students like Vu Thi Sanh have grown up and returned to their hometowns to continue their mission of spreading knowledge.
Creativity and a desire to contribute
"Expressing Gratitude 2025" also honors educators with a spirit of innovation and creativity. A prime example is Dr. Le Trong Duc from Hau Nghia High School, Tay Ninh province, with his "flipped classroom" model. This initiative helps students proactively study lessons at home, while dedicating class time to discussion, practice, and problem-solving.
The program also featured the inspiring story of Associate Professor Dr. Truong Thanh Tung, lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Phenikaa Advanced Research Institute, Phenikaa University. He represents a generation of young scientists who gave up lucrative opportunities abroad to return to Vietnam, pursuing their aspirations in research and drug invention, contributing to the country's development.
Concluding with a meaningful medley, "Expressing Gratitude 2025" spread a powerful message about a humane, creative, and inclusive education system, where each teacher is the one who lights the torch to guide the nation's future.
