Prior to Trump's sanctions ultimatum, some analysts suggested that Russia was not afraid of sanctions, and its allies were not easily provoked. And if they retaliated against the US together, Trump would be unable to cope. Russia also warned against its nuclear doctrine when the US announced plans to send weapons to Ukraine.
