The world is shocked by North Korea's thermonuclear bomb test

(Baonghean.vn) – On January 5, North Korea once again caused a stir in the world and many experts to doubt it when it announced that it had successfully tested a thermonuclear bomb (H-bomb) – a bomb with more destructive power than a conventional atomic bomb.

Japan and South Korea, two neighboring countries of North Korea, immediately denounced the blatant violation of UN Security Council resolutions after Pyongyang's announcement. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe described North Korea's hydrogen bomb test as a "serious challenge" to global nuclear non-proliferation efforts and considered it a "serious threat" to Japan.

Meanwhile, South Korea's National Security Council announced that the government will take all measures, including applying new UN sanctions, to ensure that Pyongyang will pay the price for its fourth nuclear test.

As for the White House, they have not yet been able to confirm the authenticity of North Korea's claim of a successful hydrogen bomb test. However, the Washington administration has promised to give an "appropriate" response to "provocations" from the Pyongyang government.

On January 5, the United Nations Security Council immediately convened an emergency meeting in New York to discuss the situation in North Korea. The meeting took place at the request of the United States and Japan in the form of closed consultations.

France also condemned North Korea's nuclear test. In a statement released by the Elysée Palace, it said it was a violation of Security Council resolutions and called for a strong response from the international community.

North Korea's announcement that it successfully tested a hydrogen bomb once again proves that the country continues to pursue its nuclear program despite international sanctions.
