1.1 million more doses of AstraZeneca vaccine delivered to Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City
After 3 days of completing the quality inspection procedure, the AstraZeneca vaccine batch, including 1,113,400 doses, was officially delivered to the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City under the direction of the Ministry of Health.
On the evening of August 16, after completing the quality inspection procedures, the AstraZeneca vaccine batch, including 1,113,400 doses, was officially handed over by VNVC to the Ministry of Health. The representative in the southern region, the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City, received this batch.
This is the 8th vaccine delivery under the pre-order contract of 30 million doses between VNVC and AstraZeneca since November 2020. As soon as these vaccine batches arrived at Tan Son Nhat Airport, the units urgently carried out customs clearance procedures, inspection and handover as soon as possible to the Ministry of Health.
Thus, up to now, VNVC has brought in more than 5.5 millionAstraZeneca dose, handing over to the Ministry of Health. After that, the ministry will allocate vaccines to localities, especially southern provinces with many infections such as Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong...
Currently, the whole country has a total of more than 20 million doses of vaccine, including 12.6 million doses of AstraZeneca, 12,000 doses of Sputnik V, 746,000 doses of Pfizer, more than 5 million doses of Moderna, and 2.5 million doses of Sinopharm.

As of August 15, the whole country has vaccinated more than 14.6 million doses of various types of Covid-19 vaccines, of which 13,287,434 people received the first dose and 1,379,274 people received the second dose.
At a meeting to provide information on the epidemic situation in the city on the morning of August 16, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Anh Duc said that the city had been allocated 20 batches of vaccines with 4.4 million doses by the Ministry of Health, including 3.6 million doses of AstraZeneca, 19,000 doses of Sinopharm, 55,000 doses of Pfizer, and 571,000 doses of Moderna. The city has already administered all of the allocated vaccines, with only a small amount remaining in hospitals to vaccinate those undergoing treatment.
In addition, the city has received 2 batches of Sinopharm vaccines, each with 1 million doses. The first batch was on July 31, the Ministry of Health inspected and the city is implementing vaccination. The second batch has received another 1 million doses of vaccine and is being inspected by the Ministry of Health.
According to Mr. Duc, Ho Chi Minh City is the economic center of the country, so it must be ready to restore the economy. Therefore, the city continues to organize vaccinations to cover workers and laborers in the area.
To date, the city has administered 4.6 million doses of vaccine, of which about 100,000 people have received two doses. More than 650,000 people over 65 years old and with underlying medical conditions have received the first dose.
