17 more volunteers get Vietnam's Covid-19 vaccine
Today, 17 more volunteers will be injected with the lowest dose of Nanocovax vaccine to determine the safety of the Covid-19 vaccine.
The Military Medical Academy said that today, the remaining 17 volunteers of group 1a will continue to be injected with the 25 mcg dose of Nanocovax vaccine.
The testing unit said that currently, more than 300 people have registered to participate in the clinical trial, however, through health screening, more than 200 people meet the requirements.
Previously on December 17, the first 3 members of group 1a (including 2 men and 1 woman) were injected with the vaccine. During the first 72 hours of health monitoring atMilitary Medical AcademyAll three volunteers were in normal health except for pain at the injection site and a slight fever. However, these are all normal reactions similar to other vaccines.
Currently, all 3 volunteers have returned home and continue to be monitored and supervised by commune and ward health workers. 28 days after the first injection, they will continue to receive the second injection.

Mr. Nguyen Ngo Quang, Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Training, Ministry of Health, said that in phase 1, there is no control group. 60 volunteers will be divided into 3 groups, respectively injected with 3 doses of 25 mcg, 50 mcg and 75 mcg to find the optimal dose and test the safety of the vaccine.
Phase 2 will be divided into an immunogenic group and a placebo group with a total of about 200-400 volunteers. Phase 3 will require 1,500-3,000 volunteers and expand to 30,000 people, including countries with community outbreaks such as Indonesia, Hungary....
The trial is being conducted in a rolling fashion. If all goes well, Vietnam is expected to complete all three phases of clinical trials by the end of 2021, and then apply for a registration number to circulate the vaccine.
