On the evening of April 21, Long An Provincial Police are investigating a case in which a pickup truck suspected of carrying contraband and drugs crashed into a working group, killing Major Nguyen Xuan Hao (a traffic police officer of Duc Hoa District).

In addition to Major Hao, in this incident, there were two people riding motorbikes on the road who were also hit by the pickup truck: Mr. Huynh Nguyen Chi Man (born in 1994, residing in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City) and Ms. Phan Thi Kim Thanh (born in 1973, residing in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City).
Both were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment but died due to severe injuries. It is known that both victims were working as workers in Thai Hoa Industrial Park (Duc Hanh 2 Hamlet, Duc Lap Ha Commune, Duc Hoa District, Long An Province).

Earlier at 4:00 p.m. the same day, Major Hao coordinated with the professional team to intercept a vehicle suspected of carrying contraband goods on Provincial Road 824, through My Hanh Nam Commune, Duc Hoa District.

At this time, the working group discovered a pickup truck with license plate 49C-296.01 traveling at high speed, so they signaled the vehicle to stop. The driver did not listen to the command but stepped on the gas to find a way out, causing it to crash into a motorbike driven by two people, then hit Major Hao.
The incident caused the pickup truck to flip over, Major Hao and two civilians were seriously injured and were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment, but all three died. The task force approached the pickup truck, broke the door, and took the driver to the headquarters to take statements.
