African swine fever outbreaks in 6 more communes in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - African swine fever continues to spread widely in Nghe An province when 6 more communes in Yen Thanh, Do Luong and Que Phong districts recorded the epidemic.
According to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, on June 19 and 20, the unit received many more samples testing positive for African swine fever. Of which, Yen Thanh district has 4 new communes, including: Cong Thanh, Bao Thanh, Van Thanh, Xuan Thanh; Do Luong district has Dong Son commune and Que Phong has Cam Muon commune.
There are also many positive samples in communes that have had outbreaks before such as: Quynh Thanh (Quynh Luu), Quynh Xuan (Hoang Mai town), Phuc Thanh, Vinh Thanh, Hoa Thanh, Hau Thanh, Hung Thanh (Yen Thanh).

Mr. Nguyen Van Duong - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Yen Thanh district said: 4 outbreaks have just occurred, each outbreak has only 1 pig raised in small scale in the residential area. The district's professional agencies coordinated with the commune authorities to destroy the infected pigs according to the law and deploy solutions to prevent, combat and control the epidemic on June 20 and 21.

In Do Luong district, a new outbreak appeared at Mr. Nguyen Van Hai's household in hamlet 7, Dong Son commune.
Mr. Vo Dinh Khoa - Head of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station of Do Luong district said: After receiving positive results for African swine fever in Dong Son commune, the district veterinary force proceeded to destroy 1 piglet and the mother piglets of Mr. Nguyen Van Hai's family. At the same time, Dong Son commune was instructed to deploy local epidemic prevention and control solutions.

The new outbreak in Que Phong district occurred in 2 households: Lo Van Binh in Cam Cang village and Vi Van Duc in Mong 3 village, Cam Muon commune.
On June 20, the People's Committee of Que Phong district issued a decision to declare African swine fever in Cam Muon commune. Professional agencies and the commune government destroyed 7 pigs of 2 infected households, and set up a checkpoint to control the epidemic on the only road leading to 2 villages: Cam Cang and Mong 3 village. The district provided 50 liters of disinfectant chemicals, and the commune bought 1 ton of lime powder to serve the work of disease prevention and control.

Thus, up to this point, Yen Thanh district has 23 communes, Do Luong district has 6 communes and Que Phong district has 3 communes testing positive for African swine fever.
From March 13, 2019 to present, African swine fever has occurred in 1,242 households in 121 communes in 18 districts, towns and cities in the province: Quynh Luu (14 communes), Tan Ky (4 communes), Hoang Mai town (5 wards, communes), Nam Dan (1 commune), Do Luong (6 communes), Quy Hop (2 communes), Quy Chau (2 communes), Nghi Loc (14 communes), Dien Chau (20 communes), Hung Nguyen (4 communes), Ky Son (14 communes), Yen Thanh (23 communes), Vinh city (2 wards, communes), Con Cuong (2 communes), Tuong Duong (3 communes), Que Phong (3 communes), Anh Son (1 commune), Thanh Chuong (1 commune).
The total number of infected pigs that were culled was 4,767, with a total weight of more than 215,581 kg.
