More evidence against Benzema in sex clip case

The Real Madrid striker, in a newly released audio recording, says he was trying to convince Mathieu Valbuena to withdraw blackmail allegations.

In the tape recorded on October 6 and recently released by Europe 1 radio (France), Benzema told his friend that he told Valbuena: "If you want the tape to be destroyed, my friend will come and meet you in Lyon. I don't think he will make things difficult for us."

Benzema is suspected of being involved in the sex tape blackmail of teammate Valbuena. Not long ago, the French player was detained by police for two days while the case was investigated. All recorded calls from the three blackmailers involved Benzema, as if the Real Madrid star was the mastermind.

Benzema and Valbuena were close teammates at both Marseille and the French national team.

Benzema also reassured his friend (one of the three blackmailers) that he did not think Valbuena would make a big deal out of it: "Valbuena doesn't think this is serious. He sees it as a joke."

In the remainder of the 20-minute exchange, Benzema went on to talk about how he convinced Valbuena of the risks the sex tape could pose.

"I said: I can help you. You have to go to that guy. I swear that the clip was not copied. If you want it deleted, my friend will come to Lyon to meet you to talk directly," Benzema told his friend in the recording.

"But did you see my tattoo in the clip?", Valbuena asked Benzema. "You can see everything", Benzema recounted the conversation with Valbuena to his friend.

Benzema also confirmed to Valbuena that he had seen the sex clip with his own eyes a week before training with the French team at Clairefontaine in early October.

Seeing Valbuena panic, Benzema added: "You can do whatever you want. Okay, if you don't want to pay, it's your life, I'm just warning you."
