Another girl's face was bitten off by her family's dog
An 8-year-old patient was hospitalized with a sunken cheek, all flesh and skin missing after being bitten by a family dog while they were playing.
The patient's family said the "culprit" was the family dog. The two used to play together, but this time the child hurt the dog and was attacked. "We heard the child screaming, turned around and saw the dog biting and tearing at the child's face," the parents told the doctor.

Doctors at Children's Hospital 2 (HCMC) could not help but feel heartbroken when looking at the baby's deformed face. "A large part of the left cheek is gone, the wound is slimy with teeth marks and signs of infection," said a doctor.
Faced with a large and deep wound, doctors cleaned it to prevent infection, then used a flap of skin and blood vessels from the neck to "patch" the concave part of the child's cheek. The child was discharged from the hospital but was scheduled for a follow-up appointment to monitor the infection.
This is the third case of dog bites that caused serious injuries and required hospitalization at two Children's Hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City in less than a month. The previous two cases were treated at Children's Hospital 1 with injuries to the face and neck, including one child whose trachea was severed.
Through the above cases, doctors continue to advise families with dogs not to let children play with pets.
