Another gesture of reconciliation from North Korea to South Korea
(Baonghean.vn) - On April 29, South Korean presidential spokesman Yoon Young-chan quoted North Korean leader Kim Jong-un as saying that he would adjust the country's time zone 30 minutes faster than before to coincide with the time zone of neighboring South Korea.
This is seen as a gesture of reconciliation after the historic inter-Korean summit on April 27.

North and South Korea have had different time zones since 2015, when Pyongyang suddenly changed its standard time to 30 minutes behind Seoul.
Citing nationalist rationale, North Korea stressed that it will return to the time zone used before Japan's 1910-1945 colonial rule of the Korean peninsula, to mark the 70th anniversary of Pyongyang's liberation from Tokyo.
However, according to President Moon's spokesman, the North Korean leader pledged to change the time zone again during a historic summit with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.
“Since we are the ones who changed the standard time, we will adjust it back to the original time zone. You can announce it publicly,” Mr. Yoon quoted the North Korean leader as saying.
The official quoted Mr. Kim as saying that he was “very moved” to see two wall clocks hanging in the meeting room showing the different time zones of the two neighboring countries. Mr. Yoon welcomed this as a “symbolic move” to improve relations between Seoul and Pyongyang.
The third historic summit between the leaders of the two Koreas ended on April 27 at the truce village of Panmunjom.
During the meeting, Mr. Kim stepped across the Korean border for the first time, and the two leaders pledged to pursue the goal of denuclearization, thereby establishing lasting peace./.
