Another person arrested in the murder of a chicken delivery girl on New Year's Eve

On February 16, Dien Bien Provincial Police decided to temporarily detain Bui Van Cong (residing in Dien Bien district) to clarify his actions related to the murder of a 21-year-old girl delivering chicken on the 30th of Tet.

Cong's house was about 100 meters from the scene where the victim's body was found. During the investigation, the police discovered two blood stains of the victim on the bed of his 1.25-ton truck.

Before Cong, the number one suspect in the case, Vuong Van Hung (34 years old), was arrested for investigation. Hung said that he went to the district market to play and saw a beautiful girl selling chickens with her mother and sister, so he pretended to ask to buy them. When the 21-year-old girl brought the chickens, he murdered her and then robbed her.

Dien Bien Provincial Police said that Hung has changed his testimony. Accordingly, Hung and Cong planned to lure the female student to bring chicken. On the afternoon of February 4 (New Year's Eve), when Duyen arrived at the first meeting place, Hung called again and told her to go near Cong's house. There, the two strangled the victim and then dumped her body in an abandoned house next to Cong's house.

After committing the crime, Hung drove the chicken to his uncle's house in Dien Bien district and lied that he had bought a good chicken to give as a gift for Tet. Two days later, Hung took the victim's motorbike and threw it on the side of the road in Noong Luong commune, Dien Bien district.

However, the police said the above statement still had many contradictions because according to their assessment, the girl had only died about 5-10 hours before being discovered.

The investigation team believes that there are accomplices in the case, but there are still many complicated details. The two suspects gave very little testimony and the content was contradictory, making the investigation difficult.

Previously, on the afternoon of February 4 (New Year's Eve), the victim took 13 chickens to deliver to Hung, then lost contact with her family. On the morning of February 6 (New Year's Day), her motorbike was discovered about 10 km from her house. The next morning, the female student's body was found wearing a T-shirt, underwear, a helmet, and a strangulation mark on her neck.

Authorities determined that the victim died from strangulation. Police confiscated the victim’s ATM card; motorbike registration, 8 live chickens, a chicken cage and many other pieces of evidence that Hung had hidden in many places.
