More revelations about the US plot to undermine Cuba.

Cuban media outlets on April 6th published further evidence showing that the US government has been conducting a series of online propaganda programs against the country for many years.

This new revelation further exposes part of the truth surrounding the "ZunZuneo" program, a campaign to incite the overthrow of the Cuban government, carried out by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) through social media and which was only uncovered three days prior.

According to Juventud Rebelde (Youth Rebellion), the official news channel of the Cuban Communist Youth League, since 2011, the Office of Broadcasting Cuba (OCB), part of the U.S. Department of State, has established an online program called "Martinoticas" with the aim of sending spam messages to mobile phone subscribers in Cuba.

Through Martinoticias, OCB can easily circumvent Cuban authorities in promoting propaganda against the Cuban government.

Hilda Arias, director of Cuba's state telecommunications agency (ETECSA), said that in October 2013 alone, the network sent more than 1 million "unwanted" messages to Cuban citizens.

OCB broadcasts television and radio to Cuba, but most of its programs are blocked by the Cuban government.

According to Juventud Rebelde, prior to "Martinoticas," another program called "Piramideo" was also launched by OCB in June 2013 with the aim of connecting a network of "friends," allowing each member of "Piramideo" to send messages to all other members.

However, the main purpose of "Piramideo" was to establish a channel of communication between groups opposing the Cuban revolution.

The newspaper Juventud Rebelde pointed out that both programs, "Martinoticias" and "Piramideo," violate the law against sending subversive messages issued by the Cuban Ministry of Information. "Martinoticias," in particular, also goes against the US government's CAN SPAM Act.

A year before "Piramideo," USAID launched the "Conmotion" project, which was expected to last three years.

"Conmotion" typically organizes online games, music events, or talks targeting teenagers to sow discord among the Cuban population.

On April 3rd, the Associated Press, citing its own investigation, reported the existence of a secret project called "ZunZuneo," aimed at establishing a Twitter-style social network specifically for mobile phone subscribers in Cuba to strengthen connections among dissident youth groups.

The project was launched in 2009 with the participation of approximately 500,000 mobile subscribers in Cuba, but was subsequently forced to cease operations in 2012.

USAID concealed the US government's involvement in this project by establishing shell companies in several countries and using bank accounts in the Caiman Islands.

According to the announcement, USAID Director Rajiv Shah will have to testify before a US Senate subcommittee on April 8 to clarify the program.
