According to the victim's family, at that time, Mrs. Ho Thi Nho in Hamlet 2, Quynh Hoa Commune took the opportunity to go to the bank of her family's pond to cut banana trees to feed her livestock. She went ahead of her three children, Ho Thi Lai (7 years old), Ho Thi Linh (4 years old) and Ho Thi Hang Hai (4 years old), who also followed her to the bank of the pond. When Mrs. Nho finished cutting the banana trees, she looked around and did not see her three children, so she went to look for them. After searching for a while, she discovered three pairs of sandals on the bank of the pond but did not see anyone. Her intuition told her to wade into the pond to look and discovered that the three children had been drowned by deep water. When the incident was discovered, people nearby rushed to bring each child to shore for treatment, however, due to late discovery, all three children died.

The sad thing is that Lai and Linh are two biological sisters in the same family, and Hai is a cousin and granddaughter of Mrs. Ho Thi Nho.
