If nothing changes, HAGL will have a technical director before or after the match with SLNA in round 21, V.League 2017.

HAGL's leadership has confirmed that the team is in the process of negotiating with a reputable Korean coach. However, this coach is not replacing Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tuan as head coach but will hold the title of Technical Director of the team. In fact, in name only as Technical Director (if any), but almost certainly, the new person of HAGL will take the reins. This also means that Coach Nguyen Quoc Tuan will no longer be involved in the team's professional work.

After 20 rounds, HAGL is currently ranked 12/14 teams with 6 wins, 2 draws and 12 losses, earning 20 points. The team from the mountain town is currently 11 points ahead of the team at the bottom of the table, Long An. Considering the situation and force, it is very difficult for HAGL to be relegated. It seems that due to dissatisfaction with the team's performance, HAGL's leaders decided to change the coaching staff by inviting a Korean coach.

Coach Nguyen Quoc Tuan replaced Coach Guillaume Graechen in round 22 of V.League 2015 and helped HAGL stay in the league successfully that season. However, at the present time, HAGL is not in good form and the leadership seems to be dissatisfied, so they invited a Korean Technical Director to replace him.

Also, since becoming professional, HAGL has changed many foreign and domestic coaches. Thai coach - Arjhan Somgamsak left many marks in HAGL's 2 championships since the beginning of professional football. In 2006, he left to make way for coach and player Kiatisak Senamuang. Next came Chatchai Paholpat (2006-2007), Anant Amornikiat (2007-2008), Dusit Chalermsan (2008-2009).

Chatchai returned to HAGL in the 2009/10 season, then Kiatisak and Dusit from 2010 to 2011. Coach Huynh Van Anh had half of the 2011 season as an interim replacement for Dusit. In the 2012-2014 period, Korean coach Choi Yoon-gym took over the hot seat at HAGL. In 2015, HAGL made a reformation by bringing the group of players who graduated from the HAGL-JMG Academy to play in the V.League, so coach Guillaume Graechen was chosen. Also in the 2015 season, facing the risk of relegation, coach Nguyen Quoc Tuan took the "hot seat".
