Candidates can change their university and college admission application profiles.

April 3, 2015 15:15

Candidates can register for a maximum of 4 preferences at one university or college and can change their application during the first round of admissions.

With only three months left until the 2015 National High School Graduation Examination, candidates nationwide will officially begin submitting their application forms from April 1st to 30th, 2015, to ensure thorough preparation. From April 1st to May 30th, 2015, registration units will collect the application forms for high school graduation recognition and accompanying documents.

To help candidates better understand the new aspects of this year's national high school graduation exam, a VOV.VN reporter interviewed Associate Professor Dr. Mai Van Trinh, Director of the Department of Examination and Quality Assurance (Ministry of Education and Training).

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Van Trinh

PV:Sir, this is the first year our country is holding the national high school graduation exam. Could you please tell us about the fundamental new features of this exam?

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Van Trinh:In accordance with Resolution 29-NQ/TW on fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training of the 8th Conference of the Central Committee of the 11th Party Congress, in 2015, the Ministry of Education and Training organized the national high school graduation examination. This examination serves both as a basis for high school graduation and as a basis for universities and colleges to conduct their admissions process. The Ministry of Education and Training organized multiple examination clusters for this examination. Candidates taking the exam for both high school graduation and university/college admission will take the exam at inter-provincial clusters organized by universities and colleges in coordination with the Departments of Education and Training. Candidates taking the exam solely for high school graduation will take the exam at clusters organized by high schools or groups of high schools, organized by the Departments of Education and Training in coordination with universities and colleges.

After receiving their National High School Graduation Examination results, candidates will be issued four result certificates to register for majors at universities and colleges that match their scores or personal preferences. In the first admission round, candidates use the first result certificate to register for a major or group of majors at one university or college. With each result certificate, they can register for a maximum of four preferences at one institution. During the first admission round, candidates can change their university and college admission preferences. This is a fundamental new feature that was not implemented in previous years' university and college entrance exams.

Furthermore, during the admissions process, every three days, universities and colleges must publicly announce on their websites the registration status, listing registered candidates from highest to lowest scores, to help students make informed choices.

After the first round of admissions concludes, candidates who were admitted in the first round are not allowed to participate in supplementary admissions. The remaining three certificates can be used to register for supplementary admissions rounds after the first round of admissions ends.

PV:What are the expected format for this year's national high school graduation exam, sir?

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Van Trinh:The 2015 National High School Graduation Examination will be similar to the 2014 High School Graduation and University/College Entrance Examinations, focusing on assessing candidates' abilities. Specifically, the exam will include basic-level questions suitable for both high school and continuing education students. Students who can answer these questions correctly will meet the requirements for high school graduation. In addition, the exam will include more difficult questions to differentiate candidates' abilities, serving the purpose of university/college admissions.

The exam will focus on increasing the number of application-level questions and open-ended questions, rather than emphasizing rote memorization of data and facts or answering according to pre-existing templates.

PV:With this exam format, what should candidates pay attention to in order to perform well, sir?

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Van Trinh:In terms of exam format, the content of the exam questions has not changed much compared to 2014. Therefore, candidates need to study all subjects equally according to the knowledge and skills standards of the high school level to meet the graduation requirements well. In addition, they should focus more on a few subjects that will be used for admission to universities and colleges.

For the 2015 National High School Graduation Examination, candidates should review their knowledge well, remain calm, and be confident when taking the exam.

PV:Thank you, sir!
