According to the 2017 National High School Exam regulations, for candidates who are not exempted from the foreign language exam, they do not necessarily have to choose to take the exam in the foreign language they studied in school to graduate. Candidates can choose to register for one of the following languages: English, Russian, French, Chinese, German or Japanese.
For GDTX candidates, according to the regulations, they only have to take 3 subjects (Math, Literature and one optional subject from 2 combined subjects), meaning that they are not required to take a foreign language test. However, if candidates want to take an additional foreign language test for university or college admission, they can still register to take the test.
Also related to the foreign language exam in the upcoming high school exam, many students wonder if they are eligible to be exempted from the foreign language exam for graduation (IELTS 4.0 certificate), can they use this certificate to apply for university admission?
According to regulations, English certificates are only valid when exempted from graduation exams, so if candidates want to register for university or college entrance exams, they are required to take a foreign language exam to get points for admission.
