(Baonghean.vn) - In the 2017 National High School Exam, Nghe An exam cluster had two candidates registered to take the Chinese Foreign Language exam. Among them was candidate Nguyen Thi Linh Linh from Le Viet Thuat High School exam cluster.

Linh Linh (born in 1998), is a former student of class 12A2, Le Viet Thuat High School and currently lives with her parents in Cua Nam ward, Vinh City. This is the second time Linh has participated in the National High School Exam and she said: I was quite surprised when Nghe An only had 2 candidates taking the Chinese exam.

Because her parents did business in China, they sent Linh Linh there when she was young. She went to boarding school, and all her activities and communication were in Chinese. Linh only visited her parents on weekends, so her Vietnamese was not very good. When she was 12 years old, she was brought back to Vietnam to live with her grandmother. At this time, Linh Linh officially learned Vietnamese. “For half a year, I had to relearn the first grade curriculum about letters and pronunciation. Then, I spent 2 months studying the curriculum from grades 2 to 5. After finishing primary school, I took an exam to skip a grade to the 7th grade curriculum, equivalent to the level of knowledge I learned in China,” Linh Linh said.

During high school, Linh studied English like her classmates. But because she loved Chinese, in addition to English and Vietnamese, Linh Linh continued to study Chinese at a foreign language center.

“Compared to English, Chinese is my advantage. Moreover, I am applying to the Chinese department of Foreign Trade University, so I registered for the Chinese test to “kill two birds with one stone”.

Before the exam, Linh was mentally prepared quite carefully, so she felt quite comfortable. Before that, during the process of Linh registering at Le Viet Thuat High School, the school's board of directors also created all favorable conditions for this "special" candidate.

In the exam room this afternoon, Nguyen Thi Linh Linh sat in the exam with her roommates. Although the exam subjects were different, Linh was not under too much pressure because "her friends had taken many exams together so they all knew each other". After finishing the National High School Exam, Linh said: I did quite well in Chinese with about 90%. As for Literature and Math, I did normally. Hopefully the results will be better than previous years.
