CNN quoted a source from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights in London, England, saying that the bodies of IS fighters had been lying in a hospital in the town of Tal Abya in the Syrian-Turkish border area for the past four days but no one cared. Activists of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights have not been able to identify the person who abandoned the bodies at the hospital, but it is likely that they are comrades of the corpses, extremist Islamic fighters who control the town of Tal Abyad. IS took control of Raqqa in 2013 and continued to expand its area of control in 2014. However, they are facing fierce resistance from Kurdish fighters and the Iraqi army. With support from US-led airstrikes, IS forces have been constantly attacked as they try to take control of Kobane, a Kurdish town on the Syrian-Turkish border. The gunfights occurred throughout October 19. IS forces fired 16 artillery shells into the enemy-controlled area while US and allied fighter jets flew low to bomb rebel targets.
