(Baonghean.vn) - It is currently the peak shopping season for Tet, so food prices are higher than usual. While beef and poultry are selling well, pork is currently in very poor condition.

At the markets in Vinh City these days, many people are shopping for Tet, in which food stalls always attract many housewives.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan, owner of a beef shop at Vinh Market, shared: Near Tet, due to people's higher purchasing power, more meat is imported. Currently, beef costs 250,000 VND/kg for good quality, an increase of 30,000 VND/kg compared to last week. However, the number of customers is still guaranteed.

Poultry prices also increased sharply. At Ben Thuy market, the price of chicken increased from 100,000 VND/kg to 130,000 VND/kg, industrial chicken fluctuated from 70,000 - 80,000 VND/kg. Ducks cost 80,000 VND/kg, this price increased about 20% compared to normal days.

In particular, beautiful country roosters for offerings on New Year's Eve are currently priced at 150,000 - 170,000 VND/kg.

In contrast to the bustling atmosphere at the beef and poultry stalls, the pork stalls were deserted. Ms. Nhung, a vendor at Quan Lau market, was sad: People often tend to slaughter pigs together to worship at Tet, so very few customers come to buy. Although I knew this, I imported a small amount of goods, but today (February 13, the 28th of Tet) I could not sell them all.

Currently, the price of pork in Vinh City has increased slightly compared to normal days, pork belly is 80,000 VND/kg, lean shoulder and rump are 100,000 VND/kg.

At Quan Lau market, many stalls selling vegetables and fruits have also become bustling. Most of the items are imported from Quynh Luu and Dien Chau. Some main items such as cabbage are priced at 8,000 VND/kg, Da Lat tomatoes are 15,000 VND/kg, carrots are 17,000 VND/kg, onions are 15,000 VND/kg... The prices of vegetables and fruits are stable due to abundant supply.

At Vinh market, many types of fish are sold. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, a fish seller at Vinh market, people's purchasing power has increased these days. Popular fish such as basa fish cost 50,000 VND/kg, tuna 40,000 VND/kg, pomfret 35,000 VND/kg, mullet 50,000 VND/kg... increased by 10 - 15% compared to normal days.

Grilled mackerel is currently priced at 250,000 - 300,000 VND/kg, 50,000 VND/kg higher than usual.
