Cua Lo Town: Drill on responding to natural disasters at sea
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of July 31, at Cua Hoi Fishing Port (Nghi Hai Ward, Cua Lo Town), Nghe An Fishing Port Management Board, Cua Lo Town People's Committee, Border Guard, Military Command, Town Police, functional forces and fishermen organized a drill to respond to complex situations of natural disasters at sea. This is the first time Cua Hoi Fishing Port has organized this drill.
A hypothetical situation is set up: after fishing at sea, a fishing boat of fishermen returns to the mainland and is sunk by big waves and strong winds. There are 6 fishermen on the boat, 5 of whom are swept away by the waves, a very life-threatening situation.

A number of fishing boats and fishermen were mobilized to carry out the rescue work; ambulances and medical teams from Cua Lo Town General Hospital were dispatched so that when the fishermen were brought ashore, they would provide first aid and immediately transport them to the hospital for emergency treatment.

In fact, in recent years, a number of fishermen have died in the wharf area due to natural disasters and floods, some of which were very tragic and the bodies have not yet been found. Therefore, the Fishing Port Management Board, together with local authorities and relevant agencies, organized this exercise to test the command and organization capacity of local forces and also to improve the coordination capacity between units and local authorities in the area when incidents occur to fishermen at sea; to raise fishermen's awareness in natural disaster prevention, search and rescue, especially when the 2015 flood season is approaching./.
