Dill - a versatile medicine
Dill is a very familiar spice in many dishes because it is both delicious and can overcome the fishy smell. In addition to its use as a spice in cooking, dill also has many benefits in preventing diseases.
Also known as dill; scientific name Anathum graveolens, family Apiaceae. Plant grown from seeds, used as spices for stems and leaves. Herbaceous plant, 60-80cm tall. Leaves grow alternately, with 3-pinnately lobed sheaths. Compound umbels of 5-15 small yellow flowers grow at the top of branches and leaf axils. Fruits and leaves contain essential oils that stimulate digestion, strengthen the spleen and stomach, clear menstruation, and promote lactation. Dill is grown everywhere in our country, mainly for its leaves, which are eaten with fish. As medicine, the fruit is used.
In the flavoring industry, fennel fruit is used in combination with other fruits such as coriander to make tea fragrant. Fennel fruit is used to treat the following diseases:
- Indigestion, bloating, vomiting, hiccups: Use 10g of seeds to make a drink.
- High blood pressure, atherosclerosis leading to headaches and insomnia: crush 5g of fennel seeds; boil and drink twice a day; drink continuously for many days to reduce blood cholesterol.

- Nephritis, bladder stones, kidney stones: crush 5g of fennel seeds and brew like tea; drink 5-6 times a day.
- Little milk: 10g of fennel seeds, decoct and drink daily.
- Treating respiratory diseases: in case of cold, flu, or pneumonia. Use about 60g of seeds in boiling water, filter the water, mix with honey, divide into 3 times to drink during the day.
- Treating menstrual disorders: fennel has the effect of stimulating and regulating the menstrual cycle. It relieves pain in cases of menstrual cramps in young women and in cases of amenorrhea caused by anemia, colds or pregnancy, use 60g of fennel leaf extract mixed with 1 spoon of parsley juice, divided into 3 doses per day.
