Young woman brain damaged after breast augmentation
Five minutes after breast augmentation, Linda Perez (USA), then 18 years old, fell into a coma due to severe brain damage, unable to speak or move.
Nearly three years after the accident, Linda can only say a few words and stand for a few seconds. Her mother, Mariela Diaz, has spoken out to warn about the risks of cosmetic surgery. "I want to tell girls and their mothers to think carefully before getting plastic surgery because you never know what the outcome will be," Mariela told the Miami Herald. "They should accept their natural appearance."

The disastrous surgery was Linda's second. She had previously had a butt lift.Linda's anesthesiologist, Dr. Mario Alberto Diaz, tried to resuscitate her after her heart rate dropped, her blood pressure dropped, and she became unconscious. However, according to a report from the Florida Department of Health, Diaz should have been "more aggressive and prompt." He was unable to clear Linda's airway after 30 minutes.
The Miami Herald further revealed that Diaz had been sentenced to prison for selling illegal drugs online but still kept his medical license. He is now continuing to work after paying Linda $10,000 in compensation and 15 hours of Advanced Medical Education.

Doctors concluded that Linda, now 21, would never recover. Her six-year-old son was unaware of her illness, and Mariela felt like she had to care for both children. "My daughter is like a baby now. I have to feed her, take her to the bathroom, help her with every little thing," Mariela said. "It's my nephew who helps me take care of Linda."
