A girl from the highlands of Nghe An was tricked by her neighbor and sold to be the wife of a Chinese man at the age of 12.

On August 29, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province Police in coordination with the Blue Dragon Child Protection Organization directly brought the girl KTK to hand over to her family in Ta Ca Commune, Ky Son District. K. was a victim of human trafficking, tricked and sold to China nearly 10 years ago.

According to the police, in 2011, when K. was only 12 years old, she was tricked by Vi Thi Nguyet (also a resident of Ta Ca commune) and sold to China to be the wife of a local man. However, because K. was young and in poor health, she was refused. K. was later bought by a Chinese family as their adopted daughter for 600,000 yuan, equivalent to nearly 200 million VND.

A few months ago, from Hebei Province, China, K. posted on social media information looking for her family in Ta Ca Commune, Ky Son District. Upon receiving the information, the Criminal Police Department received it and proceeded to verify and search for relatives for the victim. Searching and verifying the victim's information took a lot of time because the victim no longer remembered her father, her mother only knew that her home was in Ta Ca. Meanwhile, this locality has many women and children who were tricked and sold to China, so many families accepted K. as their daughter.

On August 12, the Criminal Police Department coordinated with the Blue Dragon Child Protection Organization, Ky Son District Police, and Nghe An Provincial Border Guard to rescue KTK. After being rescued to Vietnam, K. was quarantined in Cao Bang province to prevent Covid-19.
