Police Major Sacrificed His Life While Cracking Down on Criminals
Major Vi Văn Luân was shot while he and his teammates were surrounding a drug trafficking group.
At approximately 7 PM on February 6th, a task force of five police officers from Muong Lat District, Thanh Hoa Province, carried out a plan to apprehend and dismantle a drug trafficking ring.drugIllegal activities are taking place in the hotspot of Ta Com village, Trung Ly commune, extending to Mau village, Muong Ly commune.
During a patrol, the police officers encountered a group of suspects. Gunshots rang out. Major Luan (40 years old, a police officer from Pu Nhi commune, assigned to participate in the special case) was hit by a bullet and died on the way to the district's medical center.
Police are currently searching for the group of suspects involved in the shooting.

Major Vi Văn Luân worked for many years at the Mường Lát District Police, and in 2020 he was transferred to the Pù Nhi Commune Police.
Muong Lat, a district bordering Laos and the Northwest provinces, has been a drug hotspot in Thanh Hoa province for many years. The area has many remote villages and complex terrain, which drug traffickers exploit to transport illicit goods. Every year, the police and border guards crack down on dozens of major drug trafficking cases.
Ban Mau, in Muong Ly commune, is located about 40 km from Muong Lat town, on the banks of the Ma River.
