Giao Hien roast meat caught public opinion by storm
(Baonghean.vn) – 2 days after Nghe An Newspaper reported on Giao Hien roast meat kiln in Vinh City, thousands of shares and comments expressing outrage caused a 'storm' on the online community.
Giao Hien roast meat has long been a familiar "instant" food for many people in Vinh city. Therefore, when the information about the province's interdisciplinary inspection team "blowing the whistle" on this facility for violating food safety and hygiene was published by Nghe An Newspaper, a "wave" of reactions about the business practices of Giao Hien roast meat factory immediately "heated up" the forums.

Facebook Tran Thi Thuy Duong, Nguyen Hoang Mai and many others expressed: “Cheers to the inspection team for finding the truth. After this incident, many ‘mothers’ will have their eyes opened!”; “If the most famous facility in Vinh is still doing business like this, then other facilities are likely to be even worse”; “If a large facility does not invest in safety, then who would dare to invest in small facilities? And what about ham, sausage, and roast duck? Take advantage of the food safety month to check them all”…
Not only Nghe An people but also Nghe people living far from home, people in other provinces and cities are also very interested in this information. Mr. Nguyen Huu Dung, currently working in Hanoi, after reading the information in Nghe An Newspaper, immediately shared on his personal Facebook: "Is Mr. Giao's roast meat famous in Quang Trung? Every time I go back to my hometown, I go buy Mr. Giao's roast meat sandwiches to eat, now I'm starving!"

Many comments on Facebook expressed outrage at the news that Giao Hien roast meat violated food safety and hygiene. |
On the other hand, hundreds of comments on forums also raised questions and discussed the inspection activities and the level of punishment. Facebook user Phan Thu Huyen asked: "It has existed in the city for so many years and now the authorities have just discovered it, so where is the responsibility?" "If there is no campaign, how long will this facility continue to poison the people?"... Facebook account owner Bien Xanh, Hua Hoa Mai explained herself: "No wonder Vietnamese people are getting more and more cancer!"
In addition, the fine of 4 million VND issued by Vinh City Veterinary Station did not receive the approval of many people. Everyone thought that for this violation, the fine was too light, not enough to deter. Facebook account owner Ben Ro suggested strict handling: "In the past, whenever I wanted to eat roast meat, I would go to Mr. Giao Hien's restaurant, but now I know that I have put chemicals in my body. A fine of a few million is nothing, you guys should just suspend it for sure!"

Many netizens are upset and demand that authorities be more strict in punishing! |
As for the account owner Lanh Lung, he requested to “shut down” this facility “immediately”. Facebook user Minh Phuong Ngo asked: “Did the team inspect and quarantine the pigs? And what kind of marinade was used? The environment where the animals were slaughtered and roasted is unacceptable, and must be dealt with severely!” …
Some other opinions also raised the question: Why didn't the interdisciplinary team immediately confiscate and destroy the roasted meat at the oven? So that after inspection, Giao Hien roasted meat facility was still found to be selling this food?...
Discussing the issue of handling food safety violations against Giao Hien roast meat facility, lawyer Nguyen Trong Hai, (Head of Trong Hai and Associates Law Office) expressed his opinion: In this case, when inspecting and detecting violations of food safety and hygiene, according to the provisions of the 2010 Food Safety Law and Decree No. 178/2013/ND-CP dated November 14, 2013 of the Government regulating administrative sanctions for violations of food safety, one of the forms of handling unsafe food includes destruction (Clause 3, Article 55, Food Safety Law). The order and procedures for handling administrative violations must be timely and in accordance with the provisions of law. In addition, to ensure effective handling, deterrence and prevention, fines for processing establishments are necessary. However, given the level of food safety violations of the facility, additional sanctions should be applied: Temporary revocation of the right to use the certificate of food safety qualified facility or temporary suspension of operations (Point a, Clause 2, Article 3, Decree 178). |
