Although it was 1:00 p.m. on April 29, the sun was blazing hot, Mr. Tran Van Tu and a group of air conditioner maintenance and installation technicians in Ha Huy Tap ward (Vinh city) still climbed onto the roof to install air conditioners for customers.
Mr. Tran Van Tu said: The team of 3 workers cannot finish all the work because the demand for purchase and installation is too high. On average, these days, 6-7 air conditioners are installed, the salary is from 1,000,000-1,500,000 VND/day. Because of the large number of customers, we leave at 5am and sometimes do not return home until 10pm.
According to Mr. Tu, installing air conditioners is the most difficult in high-rise buildings, requiring the use of ladders and ropes, carrying tools and climbing, which is very dangerous in hot weather. Sometimes it takes more than 2 hours to complete the installation and ensure quality. Air conditioner technicians must always have protective gear to ensure work safety.
At this time, in Yen Thanh district, air conditioner technicians are also overwhelmed with work. Mr. Tran Hieu - the owner of an air conditioner repair and maintenance shop in Yen Thanh town said that every day there are 15-20 customers calling for repair, maintenance and installation. However, due to the small number of technicians and the large amount of work, they cannot handle it all, only serving 10-12 customers (mainly new air conditioner installation and maintenance), the remaining customers have to refuse to make appointments for later.
It is known that Yen Thanh district has about 20 air conditioner sales establishments, more than 200 air conditioner installers and repairers, but they are all unable to handle the workload. Most air conditioner repair teams can only meet the needs of the town center and the plain communes. In the remote communes 15-20 km from the district center such as Quang Thanh, Kim Thanh, Tien Thanh... it is very difficult to call air conditioner repair and installation workers.
In addition to installing new air conditioners, customers also call air conditioner maintenance workers quite a lot. Mr. Tran Minh Chau in Dien Ky commune, Dien Chau district shared: Air conditioner maintenance requires removing the cover to clean the cooling unit placed inside the rooms, and cleaning the radiator (also known as the hot block) installed outdoors. Workers must use specialized tools such as water pumps, ladders, labor protection equipment... Air conditioner maintenance time is from 30-40 minutes, labor cost is from 150,000-200,000 VND/machine, depending on the condition of the machine...
The prolonged heat has increased the demand for cooling devices. The increase in the number of people searching for air conditioners is helping sales of many electronics stores in Nghe An to skyrocket.
At an electronics store on Quang Trung Street (Vinh City), the counter selling cooling products at this supermarket also has more customers than other electronic products.
The representative of the above store added: The number of customers coming to the store to find cooling products such as air conditioners, mist fans... is increasing rapidly. Among them, the demand for air conditioners is the highest. When the heat is at its peak, many families decide to install additional high-capacity air conditioners for the dining room, living room... Therefore, air conditioners are currently a "hot" item on the market.
