New Zealand Times praises Hoi An as the most beautiful destination in Vietnam

Katie Lockhart, a writer for the NZ Herald, has some suggestions for first-time visitors to Vietnam’s ancient capital. According to Lockhart, enjoying coffee at small roadside cafes is one of the most special experiences in Hoi An.

"You shouldn't miss the chance to try many impressive coffees here, including coconut coffee, salt coffee or iced milk coffee," said Lockhart.

Once known as one of the busiest and most vibrant trading ports for centuries, Hoi An is famous for its uniquely designed souvenirs such as conical hats, lanterns and ao dai.

In particular, this place is also known as the "paradise" of street food. According to Lockhart, just walking along any street in Hoi An, visitors can find countless delicious dishes at affordable prices.

"Don't forget to stop by Tran Cao Van street to enjoy Hoi An's signature banh mi at Madam Khanh, then you can walk across the street to enjoy the local specialty cao lau at Cao Lau Lien.

If you still have room in your stomach, walk a few more metres to Mi Quang 92 to enjoy the best version of this dish," NZ Herald suggests.

The paper also recommends exploring Vietnam’s ancient cities by bicycle, which most accommodations offer. For those who want to venture further afield, motorbikes can be easily rented or ride-hailing apps can be used.

In recent years, Hoi An has always received the attention of media channels around the world. Recently, the prestigious architectural magazine Architectural Digest also included Tran Phu Street in Hoi An in the list of the most beautiful streets in the world.

The famous American travel site Travel Off Path revealed that Hoi An is in the top 7 most popular destinations in the world in 2024.
