Medical training time, university level reduced to 4 years
According to the Project to complete the structure of the national education system, which has just been submitted by the Ministry of Education and Training to the Prime Minister for consideration and approval, university education will shorten the training time from 4 to 6 years as currently regulated to 3 to 4 years.

Speaking to VietnamPlus reporters, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Bui Van Ga said: “Previously, the university training time frame was from 4 to 6 years because there was a 6-year medical major. According to the new draft, the university training time is recorded from 3 to 4 years, with the intention that the medical major is also included in this frame.”
According to Deputy Minister Bui Van Ga, the medical field requires 6 years of study, which is long and very hard. Students who pass this field are good, but when they graduate, they are just university graduates like other 4-year majors, with the same salary. This is very disadvantageous for them.
“Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has also directed to rearrange the training framework to suit the medical sector. The Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Health are researching to design a new program, adjusting the medical sector’s qualification framework to be more suitable, ensuring the rights of learners,” said Deputy Minister Bui Van Ga./.
