Floods on the Mekong River
The water level of the Mekong River continues to rise with the high tide and is likely to reach its highest level on September 26-27.
Specifically, on the Tien River at Tan Chau, the level rose to 4.15m (0.15m above BĐ2); the Hau River at Chau Doc rose to 3.75m (0.25m above BĐ2), then slowly decreased.
As of September 30, the highest water level in Tan Chau was 4.08m (0.08m above level 2), in Chau Doc was 3.67m (0.17m above level 2), and the water level at downstream stations of the Mekong River rose to level 2-3.
There is a high risk of flooding in low-lying areas and unsafe dykes in provinces in the Mekong Delta, especially Kien Giang, An Giang, Dong Thap and Long An provinces.
