The weather is getting sunny, cooling fruits are increasing in price
(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An is experiencing the first hot days of the season, the demand for cooling fruits is increasing, especially those used to make juices, therefore, the price of this item is increasing "hotly" every day...

In the past two days, when the weather has turned hot and the temperature has increased, the daily menu of Mrs. Dinh Thi Hoa's family (Hung Dung Ward, Vinh City) has added pineapple and carrot juice. Accordingly, she will buy these two types of vegetables to slow-juice to serve her family of 6.
“3 pineapples and 2 carrots are enough juice for 6 people a day. Previously, pineapples were only 7,000-8,000 VND/fruit, but now they have increased to 15,000-17,000 VND/fruit, and carrots have also increased in price from 15,000 VND/kg to 18,000 VND/kg. However, compared to buying ready-made ones at refreshment shops, it is much cheaper, so each person only spends 10,000 VND/day,” said Ms. Hoa.
Without a juicer available, many people choose to buy pineapples and carrots and rent a juicer on the spot. The rental price ranges from 5,000 to 7,000 VND/kg of fruit and vegetables.

Ms. Hung Tam, owner of a fruit shop at Hung Dung market, said: “In the past two days, people have bought pineapples, carrots, celery, and carrots to juice quite a lot. On average, each day there are about 30-35 customers hiring juicers. The amount of pineapples sold has also increased sharply compared to before, although the price has increased every day.”
Cooling fruits such as coconut, watermelon, passion fruit... also increased in price. Accordingly, Siamese coconut increased from 12,000 VND/fruit to 17,000 VND/fruit; green coconut increased from 15,000 VND/fruit to 20,000 VND/fruit; watermelon increased from 7,000 VND/kg to 10,000 VND/kg, passion fruit increased from 30,000 VND/kg to 37-40,000 VND/kg.

Not only in retail markets have prices increased, but according to a survey, currently, on Nguyen Canh Chan and Dinh Cong Tru streets (Vinh wholesale market area, Hong Son ward) - where fruits are sold wholesale, especially pineapples, sugarcane, and coconuts - these days are also very busy. Vehicles carrying fruits from all over the place are pouring in, motorbikes, cyclos, small trucks deliver goods to agents, beverage shops, retail stores, etc.
Mr. Nguyen Van Ha, owner of a sugarcane and coconut dealer on Nguyen Canh Chan Street (Vinh City) said: "Sugarcane and coconut prices from wholesalers increase every day. During the hot season, the demand for refreshments increases, the peak tourist season, so every year, the prices of these items will increase rapidly and last for a long time. But, compared to previous years, this year, the prices of coconut and sugarcane increased sharply right from the beginning of the season."

Currently, the wholesale price of sugarcane is at 5.5 million VND/ton (500,000 VND/ton higher than last year); the price of sugarcane bundles, long stalks is 110,000-125,000 VND/bundle; the price of purple sugarcane is 100,000 VND/bundle. In addition to purchasing from sugarcane growing localities in the province, agents mainly import goods from Thanh Hoa and Ninh Binh.
“In the past few days, traders who buy pressed sugarcane have come to the garden to deposit, the price of sugarcane is 500,000-700,000 VND/ton higher than last year. However, I have not received the deposit yet because the price of sugarcane has increased at the beginning of the season, so surely at the peak of the drought, the price of pressed sugarcane will increase sharply,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Men, a sugarcane pressing farmer in Hamlet 4, Hoa Son (Anh Son).

Currently, pineapple prices in the growing areas of Quynh Luu, Yen Thanh, Nghia Dan have also increased compared to the beginning of the season. Currently, the price of pineapple in the field is 8,000-8,500 VND/kg, honey pineapple is up to 17,000 VND/kg.
Especially PQ tangerines, if a week ago the price was only 5,000-7,000 VND/kg, now the price has doubled, even tripled due to high demand. "PQ tangerines are very suitable for making juice, sweet, plump and cheap.
Therefore, in the hot season, refreshment shops as well as people choose to buy PQ tangerines for drinks. Now, the cheapest price of PQ tangerines is 12,000 VND/kg, while the beautiful, selected ones are 20,000 VND/kg. The price of tangerines has increased not only because of increased demand but also because the end of the season has caused a shortage of supply," said Mr. Nguyen Tan Khoa, a PQ tangerine grower in Nghia Binh (Nghia Dan).

This year, according to forecasts, the weather will be harsh, with prolonged hot weather and high temperatures. Therefore, the demand for cooling drinks will also increase. With prices increasing, areas growing pineapples, watermelons, sugarcane, coconuts, etc. will have a good source of income, and the market will be easier to consume, so farmers are very excited.
