Weather today October 22: Cold air strengthens, making the North cold, the Central region has heavy to very heavy rain, and the sea area has strong winds of level 8-10, waves 5-7m high.
Cold air spreads, North turns cold
On the morning of October 22, a cold air mass moved down and affected the Central Central region. The Northeast wind at Bach Long Vi island was strong at level 7, gusting to level 9; at Con Co station, the wind was level 6, gusting to level 7.
In the next 24 to 48 hours, the cold air will continue to strengthen and spread to the Central Central provinces. On land, strong northeast winds will be at level 3, and coastal areas at level 4-5; coastal areas from Quang Tri to Da Nang will be affected by the circulation of storm No. 12 combined with cold air, with winds gradually increasing to level 6-7, sometimes gusting to level 8-9.

In the North and Thanh Hoa, the weather is cold in the morning and at night, and in mountainous areas, it is slightly cold. The lowest temperature is commonly 19-22°C, in mountainous areas 17-19°C, and in high mountainous areas below 16°C. In Hanoi, it is sunny during the day and rainless at night, with temperatures ranging from 19-22°C.
Due to the influence of cold air combined with the circulation of storm No. 12, the North East Sea area (including Hoang Sa archipelago) has strong northeast winds of level 7-8, especially near the storm center, strong winds of level 9-10, gusting to level 12. Waves are 3-5m high, near the storm center are 5-7m high, the sea is very rough.
The Gulf of Tonkin has strong winds of level 7, gusts of level 9, waves 2-4m high. The sea area from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai (including Con Co, Ly Son and Cu Lao Cham) has winds of level 6-7, near the storm center of level 8, gusts of level 10, rough seas. Ships operating in this area should urgently find safe shelter.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms in the Central region
From Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai, cold air combined with high-altitude easterly wind disturbances will cause scattered showers and thunderstorms, with heavy rain in some places. From noon on October 22, the rain will spread to the entire region, with very heavy rain in some places. Thunderstorms may be accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind, causing damage to agricultural production, crops and traffic works.
Mountainous provinces are at high risk of flash floods and landslides; low-lying areas are prone to flooding. Urban areas and industrial zones may be partially flooded due to heavy rain in a short period of time.
