TYPHOON WARNING ON LAND (TYPHOON NO. 2):
Between 4:30 and 5:00 AM on July 4th, Typhoon No. 2 made landfall in the area of provinces from Hai Phong to Nam Dinh.
Due to the impact of Typhoon No. 2, strong winds of level 8-9, gusting to level 11, were observed in Cat Hai and Hon Dau (Hai Phong). Heavy to very heavy rain continued in provinces from Thanh Hoa to Nghe An.
At 05:00 on July 4th, the center of the typhoon was located at approximately 20.6 degrees North latitude and 106.5 degrees East longitude, directly over the land of Hai Phong and Nam Dinh provinces. The strongest winds near the center of the typhoon were at level 8 (50-75 km/h), with gusts up to level 11. The radius of strong winds at level 6, with gusts at level 8 or higher, was approximately 100 km from the center of the typhoon.
Over the next 24 hours, the storm will move west-northwest at a speed of 10-15 km/h, penetrating deep into the northeastern provinces of Vietnam and gradually weakening into a tropical depression, which will then further weaken into a low-pressure area over the midland and mountainous regions of Northern Vietnam.
In the Gulf of Tonkin area (including the island districts of Bach Long Vi, Co To, Cat Hai, and Van Don), strong winds of force 6-7 were still present early this morning, reaching force 8 near the storm's center, with gusts up to force 11. The sea was very rough.
Inland areas of provinces from Quang Ninh to Thanh Hoa will experience strong winds of level 6-7, with winds near the storm's center reaching level 7-8, gusting to level 10.
