It seems like the weather has never been as alarming as it is now in many places around the world. America and Europe are experiencing snowstorms and floods, China and India are also shivering with cold...

Airports in New York were paralyzed by snow, Boston was flooded with freezing cold water, power outages in many places were caused by bad weather... Since January 4, the East Coast of the United States has been badly affected by a storm named Grayson, described as a "bomb storm".

Forecast information shows that by the end of this week, the temperature will drop to an average of -30oC in areas affected by Hurricane Grayson and even down to -40oC in some places. On CNN, scientist Taylor Regan said that this type of temperature is even colder than the surface of Mars!

This storm Grayson is adding to the hardships for Americans who have just experienced record low temperatures that are freezing much of the United States.

According to the newspaperWashington Post, forecast by Thursday (January 4), the super storm will hit the easternmost part of New England (including the states ofMaine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island) brought dangerous wind gusts and heavy amounts of snow.

Forecasters say the storm will soon become a "hurricane" as its pressure is expected to drop rapidly, an indicator of a burst of strength.

Meteorologists were glued to satellite screens all day Thursday to monitor the extraordinary storm off the East Coast.

What's more, immediately following the storm, a cold front from the Arctic — likely the last but strongest since Christmas — will sweep south.

The combination of extreme weather conditions has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a warning to residents to take precautions. "In addition to the accumulation of ice and snow, strong winds could knock down trees and cause power outages. Flooding is also a possibility," the agency said.

Although New England is used to harsh winters, this time temperatures could drop as low as -28oC - quite rare.

Meanwhile, Europe is also suffering from a snowstorm with the beautiful name Eleanor. The French Alps were placed on the highest level of avalanche alert on January 4 as Storm Eleanor swept through.

Eleanor is the fourth winter storm to hit Europe since December 2017, sweeping across several countries on January 3 after raging in the UK and Ireland.

So far, the storm has killed at least five people, including three in France and two swept away by huge waves along the Basque coast in Spain.

As it swept through Switzerland, Storm Eleanor knocked down trees and overturned a train, injuring nine people. In Austria, the Tyrol region issued a level 4 alert on a five-point scale for some regions.

Storm Eleanor also swept across much of western and southwestern Germany with winds of more than 120 km/h and heavy rain, disrupting traffic. River levels in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia also rose to dangerous levels. The German Meteorological Agency forecasts more rain in the coming days, especially in southwestern Germany.
