Poor village contributes 1 billion VND to build rural roads

(Baonghean.vn) - Not only donating land and supporting working days, people in village 7, Quynh Hong commune, Quynh Luu also contributed more than 1 billion VND to join hands to build rural roads to promote socio-economy and improve quality of life.

Taking us to visit the newly concreted and clean roads, Mr. Nguyen Tan The - Head of Village 7, Quynh Hong Commune said: "Previously, these roads were just dirt roads, small and narrow, muddy when it rained, dusty when it was sunny, which greatly affected people's travel, daily activities, and transportation of goods and agricultural products. Now, there are solid and spacious concrete roads to the alleys, making people excited and motivated to develop the economy and build a cultural life."

Since the beginning of the year, village 7, Quynh Hong has mobilized people to build 2,000 meters of inter-village roads, with a width of over 3.5 meters and a thickness of 18-20 centimeters, in which the people's contribution is over 1 billion VND, an average of over 3 million VND per household, and on many roads, people even contributed 5 million VND/household. In addition, in the village, there are 20 households that voluntarily donated over 500 square meters of land, dismantled walls, cleared the site, and contributed hundreds of working days to build roads.

Village 7, Quynh Hong commune has 390 households with 1,700 people, more than 76% of whom are Catholic, and people's lives still face many difficulties. After the Party, State and district issued a policy on the program to support investment in building rural roads in the form of "State and people working together", in which the State supports cement, sand, stone, gravel, and people contribute land and labor to build roads, the Party Committee, the government, the Front Committee and the village's mass organizations held a meeting with the people, discussed and agreed to implement.

More than 75% of inter-village roads have been completed with an average width of more than 3.5 meters.

At first, the mobilization work encountered many difficulties because people did not agree because road construction would affect the area of ​​yards, gardens and crops, but thanks to good propaganda and mobilization work, people clearly understood the benefits of concreting rural roads and had a high level of consensus.

Mr. Tran Van Nam's family - one of the pioneer households in donating land to build roads shared: "My family had to dismantle more than 10m of wall, gate, donate residential land, rice fields, which is more than ten million VND, but in return the whole hamlet has a spacious, clean concrete road, adults go to work, children go to school more easily, not to mention cars and motorbikes can also come to the house to buy agricultural products, life is much less difficult, so I really agree with the policy of the hamlet and commune".

Not only doing a good job of propagating and mobilizing people to contribute working days and funds to build concrete roads, the Executive Committee of Village 7, Quynh Hong Commune also actively mobilizes people to develop the economy, increase income, and build cultural life in residential areas.
