Funeral notice of comrade Nguyen Duc Binh

The funeral of comrade Nguyen Duc Binh will be held according to the State funeral protocol. Visitation will be from 7am to 10am on February 2; burial will be at 8:30am on February 3.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the family deeply mourn and inform:

Comrade Nguyen Duc Binh (birth name Nguyen Binh), born on September 9, 1927; hometown: Trung Luong Commune, Duc Tho District (now Trung Luong Ward, Hong Linh Town), Ha Tinh Province; permanent residence at house A1, lane 195B, Doi Can Street, Hanoi City; participated in the August 1945 revolutionary activities; joined the Party on July 1, 1946; Member of the Party Central Committee of the V, VI, VII, VIII terms; Member of the Politburo of the VII and VIII terms; former: Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council.

After a period of serious illness, despite the devoted care and treatment of the Party, the State, professors, doctors and family, due to old age and poor health, he passed away at 0:44 on January 31, 2019 (ie December 26, Mau Tuat year) at 108 Central Military Hospital, Hanoi.

During over 70 years of revolutionary activities, he made many contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. He was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal by the Party and the State, the title of Professor; People's Teacher; 70-year Party membership badge and many other noble medals and orders.

To express condolences and acknowledge the achievements and contributions of comrade Nguyen Duc Binh, the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front decided to hold the funeral of comrade Nguyen Duc Binh with the State funeral ceremony.

The Party Central Committee Secretariat decided that the State Funeral Committee would consist of 23 members; Comrade Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Party Central Committee's Organization Commission, would be the Head of the Committee.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Binh's coffin lies at the National Funeral Home, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi.

Visitation from 7am to 10am, Saturday, February 2, 2019; followed by Memorial Service and funeral procession back to hometown.

Funeral at 8:30 a.m., Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Ru Nam Cemetery, Quynh Lam Residential Group, Trung Luong Ward, Hong Linh Town, Ha Tinh Province.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Binh (birth name Nguyen Binh), born on September 9, 1927; hometown: Trung Luong Commune, Duc Tho District (now Trung Luong Ward, Hong Linh Town), Ha Tinh Province; permanent residence at house A1, lane 195B, Doi Can Street, Hanoi City; participated in revolutionary activities in August 1945; joined the Party on July 1, 1946.

From August 1945 to October 1946, he was Secretary of the Youth for National Salvation and Head of the Propaganda Department of the Resistance. On July 1, 1946, he was admitted to the Indochinese Communist Party (now the Communist Party of Vietnam), became a Party Cell member, in charge of propaganda, training, and the Standing Committee of the Viet Minh Commune.

From November 1946 to December 1947, he worked as Secretary of the Office of the Ky Anh District Party Committee, Ha Tinh Province.

In 1948, he was in charge of the North Central Liaison Office (Inter-zone 4).

From December 1948 to December 1949, he worked as Deputy Secretary of the Office of the Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee.

From January 1950 to October 1953, he held the following positions: Research officer in the Party committees of Inter-zone Party Committee 4, and research officer of the Propaganda Department of Inter-zone Party Committee 4.

From October 1953 to August 1954, he was the Head of the Frontline Propaganda Department of the Central Laos Front Supply Party Committee.

From August 1954 to December 1958, after peace was restored, he was in charge of the propaganda, current affairs, and policy department of the Propaganda Department of Inter-Zone Party Committee 4. In 1957, he attended the first course of Nguyen Ai Quoc School I (now Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics).

In 1959, he worked at the Nguyen Ai Quoc High-Level Party School, as a lecturer and then Deputy Head of the Philosophy Department.

In 1976, he was appointed Deputy Director of the Nguyen Ai Quoc Senior Party School.

At the 5th National Congress (March 1982), he was elected as a member of the Party Central Committee and assigned as Director of the Nguyen Ai Quoc Senior Party School and Deputy Director of the K. Special Political School.

At the 6th National Congress (December 1986), he was re-elected as a member of the Party Central Committee and Director of Nguyen Ai Quoc Academy.

At the 7th National Congress (June 1991), he was re-elected as a member of the Party Central Committee and was elected by the Party Central Committee to the Politburo, assigned to be in charge of ideological, cultural and scientific work, and concurrently Director of the Nguyen Ai Quoc Academy.

At the 8th National Congress (June 1996), he was re-elected as a member of the Party Central Committee, continued to be elected by the Party Central Committee to the Politburo, directed theoretical and social science work, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council.

He was a member of the Party Central Committee of the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th terms; a member of the Politburo of the 7th and 8th terms.
