Special announcement of the funeral of former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai
Comrade Phan Van Khai passed away at 1:30 a.m. on March 17, 2018 (February 1, Mau Tuat year), at his private residence in Tan Thong Hoi commune, Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City.
- The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front deeply regret to announce:
Comrade Phan Van Khai, born on December 25, 1933; hometown: Tan Thong Hoi Commune, Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City; permanent residence at 24 Tu Xuong, Ward 7, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City; he joined the revolution in 1947, joined the Communist Party of Vietnam on July 15, 1959. Former member of the Party Central Committee of the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th terms; member of the Politburo of the 7th, 8th, 9th terms; member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the 8th term; former Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. National Assembly delegate of the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th terms.
After a period of serious illness, despite the Party, State, professors and doctors' devoted treatment and the wholehearted care of his family, due to old age and serious illness, he passed away at 1:30 a.m. on March 17, 2018 (February 1, Mau Tuat year), at his private home in Tan Thong Hoi commune, Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City.
With over 70 years of revolutionary activities, he has made many great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. He has been awarded the Gold Star Order, the 55-year Party membership badge and many other noble Vietnamese and international orders and medals by the Party and the State.
Comrade's passing is a loss to our Party, State and people.
In memory of comrade Phan Van Khai, the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front decided to hold the funeral of comrade Phan Van Khai with the State funeral rites.
