French President proposes Europe to establish its own army, operating independently of the US
French President Emmanuel Macron has proposed creating a “pan-European army” that would operate independently of the US, including for cybersecurity purposes.

"We will not be able to defend Europeans if we do not decide to create a real European army. We must have a Europe capable of defending itself, preferably independently, without the United States," Mr. Macron said on radio.
The French President stressed that Europe is currently facing a large number of attempts to interfere in the internal democratic processes as well as the internal space of the continent.
"Today we see more and more attempts to interfere in cyberspace and in our democratic life. We must defend ourselves against China, Russia and even the United States," Mr. Macron concluded.
