After trying out a dozen foreign players, SLNA has chosen a former HAGL player.

Following Danko Kovacevic's departure, SLNA's coaching staff is actively searching for another foreign player to partner with Michael Olaha in attack. Despite competing in three competitions – V.League, National Cup, and AFC Cup – the Nghe An team has only selected one more foreign player.

And it's highly likely that it will be Osmar Moreira, the Brazilian player who played for Hoang Anh Gia Lai in the 2016 season. That was the season in which the striker broke his leg in a match against Long An and had to leave the V.League after only playing 7 matches and scoring 5 goals.

Before joining V.League, Osmar Moreira had played 10 matches and scored 1 goal for Mito Hollyhock - the team that Cong Phuong joined on loan in the 2014 season.

Notably, a serious injury sustained in the 2017 V.League season kept this player away from the pitch for the past year. However, during his trial at SLNA, Osmar Moreira performed quite well and showed good chemistry with the Nghe An team's playing style.

Currently, SLNA is still trying out other foreign players before finalizing the list of registered players for the new season. In their opening match (round 2) against S. Khanh Hoa BVN at Vinh Stadium on March 18th, the Nghe An team will only play with two foreign players.
