New Year's greetings for the Year of the Goat 2015 from the President of Vietnam

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2015 (Year of the Goat), President Truong Tan Sang sent a New Year's greeting letter to the people, soldiers throughout the country, and Vietnamese expatriates abroad. Nghe An Online Newspaper respectfully presents the full text of the letter.

Dear compatriots and soldiers throughout the country,

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Goat - 2015, I would like to extend my warmest greetings and best wishes for a happy new year to all compatriots and soldiers throughout the country, and to our overseas Vietnamese community. May every family and every person be happy and successful.

In 2014, the people and soldiers throughout the country united as one, overcoming many difficulties and challenges, maintaining a peaceful environment, political and social stability, developing the economy and culture, and promoting foreign relations and international integration… These are commendable and praiseworthy achievements, contributing to a more joyful celebration of this year's Lunar New Year.

In 2015, we need to continue building on the achievements and overcoming the shortcomings of the previous year, seizing every opportunity and advantage, overcoming all new difficulties and challenges; striving to achieve the highest possible level of the socio-economic development goals and tasks for the five-year period (2011-2015); resolutely maintaining the independence, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, sea and islands of the Fatherland and a peaceful and stable environment for national development; strengthening the building of a clean and strong Party, State and the entire political system; vigorously fighting, preventing and repelling corruption, waste, bureaucracy and the decline in ideology, morality and lifestyle among a segment of cadres, Party members, civil servants and public employees, contributing to the success of the Party Congresses at all levels, leading up to the 12th National Congress of the Party.

By upholding the spirit of patriotism and national pride, we must seriously implement the 2013 Constitution, practice broad democracy, strengthen discipline and order, ensure transparency, comprehensively and synchronously promote the reform process, build character, intellect, capacity and civic responsibility, and lead the country to strong and sustainable development, striving to soon become a modern industrialized nation, ensuring our people have a prosperous, free and happy life, and the entire nation moving forward with the times.

I wish a new year filled with unity, innovation, and many good things to come to our beloved country of Vietnam, to every citizen and soldier throughout the country, and to our compatriots abroad.
