Nearly 2 thousand boxes of Royal Coffee causing convulsions and coma seized
The Department of Environmental Crime Prevention and Control (PCTP), Hanoi City Police, in coordination with functional units, discovered 1,950 boxes of Royal Coffee, a weight loss aid product, suspected of containing the banned substance sibutramine, hidden in a deep underground bunker.
Previously, on March 31, the Environmental Police Department received information about a number of cases.poisoningis being actively treated at the Poison Control Center of Bach Mai Hospital.

The patients' symptoms were similar: fatigue, difficulty breathing, vomiting, convulsions, coma and signs of transient cerebral ischemia after using Royal Cafe brand dietary supplement to support weight loss.

On April 8, the interdisciplinary inspection team including Team 4 in coordination with Market Management Team No. 17 (Hanoi Market Management Department), Market Management Team and Son Tay Town Police conducted an inspection at Lasva Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Company Limited, located in Kim Son, Son Tay Town, the Company Director is Phan Hong Ngan (born in 1998). During the inspection, the working group determined that: Lasva Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Company Limited produces many types of functional foods and dietary supplements in large quantities, the production line of these products does not ensure food hygiene and safety and health according to regulations.
Notably, the top of the hatch cover was camouflaged with plastic pallets and various types of packaging, very sophisticatedly. The inspection team agreed to temporarily detain all of the above goods to conduct testing and analysis of components according to regulations.
