Revoking the Independence Medal of the former Deputy Head of the Southwest Steering Committee
The Central Emulation and Reward Committee has sent the Decision to revoke the Second Class Independence Medal of Mr. Nguyen Phong Quang to the Southwest Steering Committee.
On April 4, according to a source from the Central Emulation and Rewards Committee, this agency sent the President's Decision on revoking the Second Class Independence Medal of Mr. Nguyen Phong Quang to the Southwest Steering Committee.

Mr. Quang was signed the Decision by the President.awarded him the Second Class Independence Medal for his outstanding achievements during his time working at the Southwest Steering Committee. The decision was signed on October 7, 2016.
However, the Party Central Committee Secretariat later signed a decision to discipline Mr. Nguyen Phong Quang by removing him from all Party positions for very serious violations during his tenure as Deputy Head of the Southwest Steering Committee in the 2011-2016 period.
By the end of October 2017, the decision and medal were transferred to the Southwest Steering Committee. The leaders of the Southwest Steering Committee sent a document to the Central Emulation and Reward Council requesting reconsideration; the case was then also reported to the Prime Minister.
Mr. Nguyen Phong Quang is the person who directly signed the appointment of over 30 cases that did not follow the principles, processes, procedures, conditions and standards, including the "lightning-fast" appointment of 26-year-old Deputy Department Head Vu Minh Hoang.
In the decision to discipline Mr. Nguyen Phong Quang, the Secretariat stated: With his position and responsibility as a leader, Mr. Quang must bear primary responsibility for the violations and shortcomings of the Party Committee and the Standing Office of the Southwest Steering Committee from 2011 to 2016. Mr. Quang hasViolating the principle of democratic centralism, working regulations, deciding on policies on personnel work that are not in accordance with regulations, allowing many violations to occur over a long period of time; lacking inspection and supervision of advisory agencies in implementing policies and procedures on personnel work.
Lax management and lack of responsibility allowed subordinates to seriously violate the law on financial and asset management, causing great loss of state money and assets.
Transferring more than 2,000 square meters of land of the Steering Committee to the Association for Supporting Poor Patients in the Southwest, seriously violating the Law on Management and Use of State Assets.
Violating Party regulations in accepting nomination for the position of Chairman of the Association for Supporting Poor Patients in the Southwest. Using the name of the Steering Committee to solicit sponsorship for the Association without permission from the competent authority, not in accordance with the functions and tasks of the Steering Committee./.
