Having the opportunity to visit the fattening cattle farming model of Mr. Dang Trong Duong, we were truly amazed by a farm with a herd of 150 beef cattle. According to current prices, each cow sells for an average of over 15 million VND, his cattle farm is currently worth over 3 billion VND.

Mr. Duong shared: in 1999, he started building the initial farm with a few dozen cows. Realizing the advantage of having a large area of land, fast-growing livestock, and stable output for high economic efficiency, in 2005, he borrowed 600 million VND from the bank to expand the barn to an area of 500m2 on a large and continuous scale.

He raises and fattenes quality young cattle such as Sind crossbred cattle and grass-fed cattle. These breeds are expensive to import but grow very quickly, have good resistance, and rarely get sick or have diseases.

According to Mr. Duong, success requires experience in selecting breeds. When buying cows, although they are thin and weak, they must have large bones, tall stature, broad shoulders and be under 2 years old. In addition, it is necessary to do a good job of cleaning the barn and vaccinating the herd against diseases. Farmers are proactive in food sources, including refined foods such as corn flour and rice bran.

During the raising process, the cows must be bathed every week, supplemented with bran water twice a day, and fed with grass and straw to help them grow quickly. During the raising process, vaccinations must be given once or twice to prevent the cows from getting sick and to avoid damage during the raising process.

Workers are taking care of the cows.

Although raising fattening cows requires a large amount of capital, the advantage is that the capital is recovered and rotated quickly, only 3-4 months before being sold. He often buys cows in all districts in the province such as Con Cuong, Ky Son, Tuong Duong. After being fattened, most of his cows are sold to individuals and organizations in need.

In 2015, he sold 1,000 cows and earned over 2 billion VND in profit. To facilitate the farming work, he also invested in planting 2 hectares of milkweed and large biomass corn, along with hiring 4 more workers to take care of the cows.

Mr. Son is encouraging people to develop a model of raising cattle for sale. The model of raising fattened cattle like Mr. Dang Trong Duong needs to be encouraged to expand.
