After a thrilling victory with his friend and rival Hoang Minh in the first quarter of the 19th Road to Olympia competition, joy and pride were still shining on the face of 10X guy Tran The Trung.

Different from the image of a decisive climber, ready to take every point from his opponent at the Road to Olympia competition, The Trung in real life makes people feel approachable and a bit quiet.

“Since I was able to bring the contest to Nghe An, I have been so happy that I feel like I am floating on cloud nine. Because everyone wants to stand on the top of Olympia, the pinnacle of knowledge, and I am gradually conquering it,” The Trung confided.

Talking about his journey to conquer the Olympia peak, Trung honestly said: “It was like that on the program, I was a bit nervous at the beginning of the competition. If you pay attention, I often answer very loudly during the warm-up rounds and consider it a way to regain my composure to do well in the following rounds.” It is also for this reason that Trung’s favorite part is the warm-up round. Warm-up not only helps to regain composure, but also helps Trung practice his reactions, reflexes, and speed to enter the following rounds.

Talking about his dream, The Trung said, “Ever since I was in 6th and 7th grade, when I saw my seniors participating in the Road to Olympia competition and winning the laurel wreath, I wanted to grow up and be able to test my skills in the intellectual playground like my seniors.” Unlike many people who just think but do not do, the boy born in 2002 started preparing to become a “climber” right from that time.

Attentively following every Olympia recording, registering to participate in Olympia playgrounds and forums on the Internet, continuously equipping himself with knowledge from books to society, even accepting not to join the national excellent student selection team... that is the journey that The Trung went through before becoming the champion of the first quarter competition, the 19th Road to Olympia.

At the beginning of 10th grade, The Trung was the valedictorian of the Physics class at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted and was selected to be on the national team for the excellent student competition. However, after participating in the team for a while, The Trung took the initiative to quit to focus on studying for the Road to Olympia competition. Thinking back on his decision at that time, Trung said that participating in the Road to Olympia competition was his wish since he was a child, so he has no regrets no matter what the result is.

Even when he was just entering 10th grade, Trung wrote a “heartfelt letter” on the school’s Confession page expressing his desire to try his hand at Olympia, as well as many other students in the same grade. A year later, Trung’s “heartfelt letter” made waves on the social networks of Phan school students and alumni after he won the laurel wreath in the weekly and monthly competitions.

Setting a goal for himself to once participate in the intellectual playground for high school students, to once wear the glorious laurel wreath standing on the top of Olympia, The Trung has successfully completed his goal. He not only once but 3 times in the weekly, monthly and quarterly competitions and brought the final telecast of the Road to Olympia contest for the first time to Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

Smart and enthusiastic, The Trung is also a warm and sharing Youth Union Secretary. At the first quarter competition, Trung shared that if he won, he would give a laurel wreath to contestant Nguyen Hoang Ngoc Ha, Nguyen Chi Thanh High School for the Gifted in Dak Nong, who participated in the first quarter competition in January. Ngoc Ha is a close friend of The Trung. When he learned that Ngoc Ha had competed in two matches but had not won any laurel wreath as a souvenir, Trung promised to give it to his friend as a souvenir. And the Phan school boy kept his promise to send his laurel wreath to his friend Ngoc Ha in Dak Nong.

Sharing about his victory, The Trung wanted to send a special thank you to his deceased sister. “My sister is the one who inspired my Olympia dream so that I can stand in this position today. And hopefully in a better place, she will still follow me and help me so that I can complete the competition in the best way,” Trung confided.

As a student majoring in Physics, he likes to explore and learn more skills. At the same time, The Trung also loves to learn about Vietnamese and world history, and likes to play the piano... Not only spending time studying, Trung said he also loves to participate in group activities. Currently, he is participating in 5 clubs in the school with different roles.

The Trung said he is still continuing to supplement his knowledge for the Road to Olympia Finals. And Trung himself always believes that studying is mainly about efficiency, not too much, so he does not put too much pressure on himself.

The teacher wished Trung to continue writing his story, winning the victory to conquer the Olympia mountain of knowledge, and fulfilling his long-standing wish.
