Top IS leader and 14 militants killed in Afghanistan
The top leader of IS in Afghanistan and 14 other gunmen were killed on August 26.
Afghan officials announced on August 27 that the top leader of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) was killed in a long-range missile strike by the US-led NATO military alliance on several bases of the terrorist organization in the eastern province of Nangarhar.

According to the Afghan military announcement, leader Abu Saad Erhabi and 14 other IS gunmen were killed on August 26 in the Waziri Tangai area, Khogyani district.
In addition, 7 IS gunmen were injured in an attack in the mountainous area of the district. It is known that leader Erhabi is the 4th IS leader in Afghanistan to be eliminated in eastern Afghanistan since mid-2017. This is an area where frequent clashes between Afghan security forces and terrorist gunmen have occurred in recent times, causing thousands of people in Khogyani district to be displaced.
